1st an update, some personal shit but you may as well know
If nothing more than inspire others in loss & emotional turmoil !!!
I’m just recently back from the Philippines where I buried my father “Alan the Book” who was, is & remains an inspiration to me and the “palante mentalidad” of Trespeso as collective and a business. Well what little biz there is these days.
I was in Cuba making music with Kiki and a bunch of Trespeso Artists, dodging the odd hurricane & receiving emotionally de-stabalising emails complete with graphic pix of my “papa” in ICU complete with resporator tubes & a huge stage 4 Squamas cell cancer on the side of his face. Not an easy thing to deal with from Cuba when changing a ticket date or leaving in the middle of producing a dreams to reality opportunity for my trespeso family. Was NON option full of pain & potential guilt.
I was glad I was there in Cuba doing what I do and Kiki & a few others close to me were very supportive of my fathers situation, with that staunch Cuban attitude of accepting suffering as part of life while advocating keeping your “cojones” intact & staying focused on the moving ahead with the music. I knew that deciding to stay, and not trying to rush off to the PI to be by his side was infact exactly what he would have done knowing the motives I have with trespeso and all the artists involved. And that he held on till I arrived, was testament to that.
I arrived in Cebu city PI at 7.30pm on the 21st of Oct, spent several hours by his side and then he passed at 12.20am on the 22nd. “ciao pescou”
My father truely is the inspiration & strength for the never give in attitude I have towards this music and the people whom with I make it…!!!! But it’s the Cubans who struggle daily in Cuba
cleaning their “bodega ration” rice of rocks end dirt, whom hustle hard daily to put some “carne” in their families diet, whom approach every deal with a cunning to survive that have with out a doubt perpetuated that strength in me, and within each other.
On the real my pops was “un chulo de verdad” and a hustler of sorts. Shit I even put that on his death certificate but anyone who’s knows hardship in the 3rd world enough to taste the suffering, knows that not many, if any can navigate with compassion and respect for a long period of time. He lived there for 30 yrs and was respected and loved my the marginal street people, hustlers, pimps, gangster & “putas” of the Filo ghettos and it is his philosophy of trust no one but respect everyone that gave me the tools to face all the shit daily that exists in Cuba & this bizzo. So with all that in mind I thought I pay some respect & homage to the facilitation of his passing in Cebu PI with a little “adios papa” youtube video here
So now that’s all said and done “la guerra continua” this is some what we been busy producing these last months in the Santia-ghetto. Vatoz Locoz are clearly some of the more extreme talent of trespeso and although I don’t always meet eye to eye with the recklessness of the dynamic duo I can’t help but always be amaised at their immense talent. Chorote hounded me for weeks to do a little interview with him to put up on the web. But instead I handed the camera to Alayo of Rezistencia & Pucho aka El Stratega encouraging them to begin to guide and produce trespeso media. Please leave a comment or ten, post a thousand links, buy a million CD’s.
Any help or propagation that may lead to more sales of their music is always appreciated.

I just had to write something about this situation. Anyone who knows me or has followed Trespeso knows, it’s not just about selling our music from Cuba it’s as much about all the personal struggles that each every Urban Artist in Cuba deals with cada fucking dia ! tu sabe. We have always advocated & promoted other artists from Cuba such as Donato & Aldeanos etc etc without any commercial interest, fact is we see and feel it to be just a bigger part of the struggle for the musical soul of country so fucked over by National Govt dellusion & exploitative forieign interest. There are very underhanded aspects to the music scene in Cuba, and foriegn interests in talent such as Elvis Manuel that for the most part go unknown my many Cubanos in Miami. la mecca
goes both ways, for Cubans & Yumas. La Tuba by Elvis Manuel, such a phenominal hit, nationally in Cuba then spreading like fire to the North & all over Europe. Elvis Manuel = $$$$$$$$ if he lands in Miami & I sincerely hope he does somehow or at the least somewhere safe. If thats the case bueno, we all can be happy that he will be OK and very likely climb to the top of the game he certainly has the Balls & talent to take down the Boriqua stronghold over the Urban Latin Music scene alone. My angst & fuego por la situacion ecomicamente. Who the fuck in Elvis Manuels inner circle, especially the foreign interest in exploiting his talent abroad, would advocate putting him on a boat to Miami, that obviously was not somehow 100% paid off and Guaranteed to land him safely. Or even spend the extra 4 or 5k get him out to Europe then the states. I hope that I am wrong, I hope that someone smarter than me hiciste un tremenda mecca por esa Chama Elvis Manuel & that he pops up on TV with Carlos very soon ????
If some fucking mongo payaso foreigner put him up to this on the cheap. And he’s lost his life because of it, then the streets of Cuba will tell his story & I for one, will post it everywhere on the web. Bottom line is, it did not even have to go down like this. Elvis Manuel is not in the same position in Cuba like Reiner (El Medico) or Ruben (Candyman) Elvis Manuel could have left Cuba on a Plane with Visa !! la Verdad not easy not cheap but definately not impossible enough to risk una lancha pa norte…. pa tu sepas bien.

In mid Jan Gagolin (la familia) put on concert at Cabilde en Santiago with some of Stgo hottest talent including “del mas historico” CANDYMAN. The song is Agarrala & features Pucho & Micky from La KM
This video (below) was shot in 2005 but only just cut together Jan 08 by Jordy, cousin of Green. Vatoz Locoz are still the most feared and respected artists in Santiago, they continue to do features with Candyman, Puchoman, Gagolin & a string of others on a regular basis.
